After capturing the 2018 CONCACAF Women’s Championship and qualifying for the 2019 Women’s World Cup, the United States Women’s National Team is taking their act on the road. According to the Washington Post’s Steven Goff, the USWNT are scheduled to travel to Europe to face Portugal on November 8th. They then take on Scotland on November 13th.

Update: Today, U.S. Soccer officially announced the away matches against Portugal and Scotland. The Portugal match will take November 8th at the Estadio António Coimbra da Mota in suburban Lisbon, whi ch is home to 2nd division side G.D. Estoril Praia. The Scotland match will take place 5 days later at the Simple Digital Arena in Glasgow, home to Scottish Premier League side St. Mirren FC.

Scotland surprisingly qualified for next summer’s Women’s World Cup in France by winning their group in UEFA Women’s World Cup qualification. Portugal failed to qualify for the tournament after finishing 3rd in their group behind Italy and Belgium.

This will be the first away match for the USWNT since they traveled to Vancouver for a match against Canada last November. That match ended in a 1-1 draw. For the USWNT, it’s a chance to compete against two European teams that could help them as they begin preparations to defend their Women’s World Cup title. Road tests will be crucial experience for the team, and in an upstart Scotland, they face a team that they could see next June in France.
